Top contributors

The students whose notes other people are actually reading.

Ranked by contribution points: notes shared, downloads, reads, and answers in the community.

Ranks 21 to 110 are in the app

The website shows the top 20. The full board, your own rank and how many points you need for the next place are in the IdeaTopic app.

One note is enough to appear. Everything you share keeps your name on it for as long as anybody reads it.

The ranking

Worked out from what you gave, and how much it was used

Notes shared, and the reading and downloading they went on to get. Not how often you visit, how long you stay, or how many days in a row you have opened the app.

Notes you have shared, and what they were used for.
Answers you have written in the community.

Why it exists

Credit is the only thing a contributor is paid in

Nobody here is paid, and nothing is bought. Your name staying on what you shared is the entire compensation, so it is worth putting somewhere people can see it.

What it costs you

Giving a note away does not take it from you

This is the unusual economics of notes: the copy you hand over does not leave your side. You lose nothing, and someone sitting the same paper next year gains a week.

What it adds up to

Every place on this board is a bigger library

The list is not decoration. Everything on the site arrived because somebody on it decided a stranger should not have to start from nothing.

Useful, not loud

One note people actually use beats ten nobody opens

Because use counts as well as volume, uploading everything in your downloads folder does not work. The material students come back to is what moves you up.

Not only files

Answering a question counts as contributing

Some of the most useful things on the site are three sentences long and were typed at midnight for one confused person. Those count.

Getting on it

Three steps, and none of them cost anything

There is no application and no approval queue for people. Share something you have already written and you are on the board.

How the board works

How is the ranking worked out?

By what you have contributed and how much use it has had — notes shared, reads and downloads on them, and community answers. Not by how often you visit.

Why does the leaderboard matter?

Credit is the only thing a contributor is paid in. This is where it is visible.
